Norwegian national day ( 17th of may)
Syttende mai (17th of may )! That ‘s how norwegian call the national day in Norway. I wanted to share a bit how norwegian celebrate the national day. What does it mean? Old telemark ski building
Today, i want to share what i just saw on NRK (the norwegian TV). The TV programm was about making telemark skis as the first men did. The first skis were made in Morgedal (valley of Morge) situated in the so-called region Telemark. This place is situated inbetween Oslo and Stavanger in the very south of Norway. This is one of the most mountaineous region in Norway. It is also nowadays a wellknown place for climbing ( Nissedal and Hægefjell) and iceclimbing (Rjukan and Hemsedal). The first skis were made out of pine wood. One long piece of wood without knurl was chopped along the fibers. The front was the widest part, the middle was the narrowest where the feet laid and the back was about inbetween. Here is my first article of my new blog. I aimed at changing the platform because of the following reasons : Being able to publish quality pictures Make the update easier on the blog Customize the layout and add some plug-ins Manage and own all the content I will write this blog in english to be able to share it with all my friend without nationality and language restrictions. But it might be that i take some parts in other languages ( likely with translation) as i really like to keep a diversity in the languages !
